Dubbo’s accomplished Clint Lundholm has career-high numbers and is confident of winning newcomers upping the ante at value at Sunday’s home track TAB meeting. Clint has momentum from 41 winners from last season, attracting capacity stable numbers and has 10 runners throughout the seven-race Dubbo program.
The Central District’s racing capital has drawn the strongest regional stables.
Scone’s Brett Cavanough and Cameron Crockett, Tamworth’s Sue Grills and Gulgong’s Brett Thompson, also have quantity and form.“Always hard to beat, place the right horses, I’ve got to stack the deck at home the best I can,” Clint quipped.“Tells Tails, bolted in last start, Don’t Question Me is real close and Elusive Eagle was a big win last start.”Elusive Eagle and Tells Tales both contest the fifth event, the Pig and Tinder Box BM 66, 1010m as Clint is involved in separate syndicates.
Same with Vital Verse and Don’t Question Me in the Milestone Class I, 1100m.Elusive Eagle is transferred from the Wyong stables of Allan Denham, rising mare Don’t Question Me from Victoria’s John Salanitri.“Nice mare, only won a maiden down there, but she’s placed twice for us from a let-up without much luck, she’ll win races on what’s she’s showing.“Tells Tails couldn’t be better, Elusive Eagle won really well first-up with a big weight at “Coota”, has 63kg, so we’ve claimed with our apprentice Elissa Meredith.
“Tough bush handicapper, that’s his sixth win. He’s five, so more in him for sure if we place him right, but the weights scales make it tough.”
Clint also fancies consistent Harwok n Zoff, a dual acceptor who will start in the Brady’s Railway Class 3, 1410m.“He’s limited but a consistent trier, his last run was strong from the back, he won at Orange before that, he’ll be thereabouts.”
A big watch is Will Freedman’s La Tigresa third-up in the sixth race, transferred from the Rosehill stables of his father and uncle.The well-bred five-year-old Epaulette mare has Newcastle and Hawkesbury wins and placings in better grade and fitter from a spell looks targeted.
Capacity fields and wide betting markets are the order. Dubbo is a Soft 5 in overcast weather and has missed the regional downpours that threatened other meetings.
